Abaya, the traditional and modest Islamic dress, was originally created to cover the whole body including hands and face. Arab princesses and noble ladies used to wear Abayas made of finest fabric and luxury trimmings. Today Abayas are still worn by Muslim women in different ways according to their country or region. For instance, Middle Eastern Muslim women generally wear either a niqab (black veil that covers the face) or a hijab (the head scarf). Abayas are usually long sleeved and ankle length.
